AEGEE-Kyiv is the most active Ukrainian antenna, which has over 150 members and still growing. AEGEE-Kyiv members have the opportunity to take part in exchanges, Summer Universities, training courses, seminars and other numerous events organised by either other European antennae as well as organizing local events. Each of the AEGEE-Kyiv members has hundreds of friends all around Europe, and we are proud that following their participation in our events, we manage to breakdown any Ukrainian stereotype. Consequently they always return back!

During AEGEE-Kyiv’s 15 years of existence, our antenna managed to organise a lot of local as well as European events including summer universities, training courses, youth events and exchanges.

During AEGEE’s Autumn AGORA in Aachen, AEGEE-Kyiv and AEGEE-Valletta became twins and consequently decided to organise a bi-lateral exchange. AEGEE-Kyiv’s dear TWINS from AEGEE-Valletta came to Kyiv on the 1st of February 2009. Typical Maltese Nikki, Alistair, Pierre, Marco, Mario, Paul and William came for one week from warm and sunny Malta to cold but very friendly Ukraine.

For this special occasion AEGEE-Kyiv members adapted the famous song “I like to move it” as the official TWINS song which was sung for the first time during the exchange. “I like my Twin, my Twin ya...I like my Twin, my Twin ya!!” became the famous chorus of this song. During the exchange, organisers wanted the Maltese participants to experience the real Ukrainian winter. So amongst the many well organised events, AEGEE-Valletta members enjoyed skiing and skating or better trying to since most of time was spent trying, to no avail, not to fall down. The exchange also included a special Gala evening... black ties, costumes, evening dresses, gorgeous men and women… that was our visit to the National Opera for the ballet “Sleeping beauty”. Certainly this was an unforgettable week, one which warms your hearth by just recalling it.

Following many years of active participation within the AEGEE-Network thanks to the continuous activeness of AEGEE-Kyiv members and the cooperation with other AEGEE and external bodies in previous projects, the Comite Directeur of AEGEE-Europe took the decision to give the privilege to organise the last Autumn AGORA 2009 to AEGEE-Kyiv. During Kyiv AGORA 2009, AEGEE active members from all over Europe helped Ukraine’s capital city to take stands which are of particular relevance to both problems and interests of youths.

AEGEE-Kyiv made it possible to integrate both European and Ukrainian youth culture into a reality! This event also helped European youths to get to know more about Ukraine, its culture and to eliminate all stereotypes they had on our country. That's why AEGEE-Kyiv invited everybody, from government and sponsors to mass media and others NGOs, to join us in our preparation for this meeting and to support us in participating for this event which was of great importance for all the Ukrainian youth movement.
